BDDK revokes operating license of Iran-based Bank Mellat

Under a decision dated September 18 published in the Official Gazette, the operating license of Bank Mellat's Istanbul Türkiye Central Branch was revoked under Article 71/1-b of the Banking Law; according to DW and Euronews, the justification cited a threat to depositors' rights and the trust and stability of the financial system.

Official Gazette publishes approval of defence industry agreement with Brazil

The Official Gazette dated 18 September 2026 contained 15 regulations, including a decision approving the Defence Industry Cooperation Agreement between Türkiye and Brazil, along with decisions on railways, land consolidation and urgent expropriation.

Official Gazette: new units created at two universities, two faculties closed

By presidential decree, a Faculty of Computer and Informatics Sciences was established at Amasya University and a Disaster Research Institute at Karadeniz Technical University; two faculties at Yaşar University were closed, and the name of Selçuk University's Faculty of Dentistry was changed.

New Turkish Food Codex rules on dairy and meat products published in Official Gazette

Two communiqués published in the Official Gazette reduced fat classes for drinking milk to four and restricted the use of sugar and syrup; rules on döner labeling and fat ratio in meat products were also revised. Businesses will have until March 31, 2027 to comply.
