BDDK revokes operating license of Iran-based Bank Mellat

Under a decision dated September 18 published in the Official Gazette, the operating license of Bank Mellat's Istanbul Türkiye Central Branch was revoked under Article 71/1-b of the Banking Law; according to DW and Euronews, the justification cited a threat to depositors' rights and the trust and stability of the financial system.

Banking regulator BDDK revokes Bank Mellat's Istanbul branch operating license

Under a decision dated September 18, the banking regulator BDDK revoked the operating license of the Istanbul Türkiye Central Branch of Iran-based Bank Mellat, under paragraph (b) of the first clause of Article 71 of the Banking Law. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.

Banking regulator BDDK: Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) to exercise shareholder rights at Golden Global Investment Bank

Banking regulator BDDK decided that shareholder rights attached to the 99.98% stake in Golden Global Investment Bank, which is facing a liquidity problem, will be exercised by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), without transferring ownership of the shares. The United States placed the bank on its sanctions list on September 4 over alleged Iran-linked transactions, which the bank denied.
