Historic castle in the center of Kahramanmaraş

Kahramanmaraş Castle sits atop an artificial mound in the city center. It is thought to have been built between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD. It has a near-rectangular plan measuring 150x75 meters, and part of its walls along with three towers have been restored.

Kahramanmaraş Castle and five mosques reopen after restoration

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy opened Kahramanmaraş Castle, damaged in the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, to visitors and reopened five mosques for worship. Ersoy said more than 12.265 billion lira had been spent on restoration across the 11 earthquake-affected provinces.

Ersoy reopens 5 mosques and a castle restored in Kahramanmaraş

Minister Ersoy visited Kahramanmaraş Castle, damaged in the February 6 earthquakes, and reopened 5 mosques for worship after restoration. The ministry has so far spent over 12.2 billion lira (TL) across the 11 earthquake-affected provinces, with total investment expected to reach 34 billion lira.
