EU says it is following detentions in "My Family Is Safe" operations with concern

In operations spanning 15 provinces, legal proceedings were reportedly launched against 162 suspects, 9 associations and 13 businesses. The EU said it was following the detentions and access blocks "with concern," had "noted" reports that most detainees were released, and reiterated its call for anti-discrimination recommendations to be implemented.

Hearing in trial of Pınar Selek postponed to February 5, 2027

At the 8th hearing of the Egyptian Bazaar case at Istanbul 15th High Criminal Court, the court upheld the outstanding arrest warrants and postponed the hearing to February 5, 2027.

26 detained arrested in Sakarya-based illegal betting operation

In an operation carried out in Sakarya, Istanbul and Kocaeli, 31 suspects were caught; a transaction volume of approximately 562 million lira was reportedly identified in account activity. Star also reported a separate operation across 7 provinces based in Aydın.

Release order for two suspects in Aktaş assassination-plot case

Selahattin Yılmaz and Cem Duman, who had been held in pretrial detention for 13 months over an alleged armed attack plot targeting Aziz İhsan Aktaş, were ordered released after an objection to their detention. Duman was freed; Yılmaz will remain in prison because he is convicted in another case.
