Adnan Menderes

Prime Minister of Türkiye from 1950 to 1960

Ali Adnan Ertekin Menderes was a Turkish politician, statesman and lawyer. He served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye from 1950 to 1960 and was chairman of the Democrat Party, of which he was among the founders. He remains the first and only prime minister in Turkish political history to have been executed.

Menderes, Zorlu and Polatkan commemorated on 65th anniversary of executions

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik, and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran issued commemorative messages for Adnan Menderes, Fatin Rüştü Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan, who were executed after May 27, 1960.
