A geographic region in Southeast Europe

Thrace is a region encompassing southern Bulgaria, northeastern Greece and Türkiye's territory on the European continent. The portion within Türkiye's borders covers 23,764 km2 and is bordered by the Black Sea, the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea.

Decision granting TPAO urgent expropriation authority in Thrace under debate

BirGün wrote that a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette on September 5, 2026 granted TPAO urgent expropriation authority in its licensed fields in Thrace, and that the decision covers not only drilling sites but also pipelines, camps and storage facilities.
