Muğla

A province in southwestern Türkiye

Muğla is one of Türkiye's 81 provinces. Its administrative center is the city of Muğla, and according to end-2025 data it has a population of 1,099,547. Most of the province lies within the Aegean Region, with a small portion in the Mediterranean Region, and it includes tourism hubs such as Ortaca, Dalaman, Köyceğiz, Fethiye, Marmaris, Milas, Datça and Bodrum.

Operation in Istanbul and Muğla in forex and crypto fraud investigation

Where reports differ

Foreign press Cyprus Genç TV, citing the Interior Ministry's statement, reported that 174 suspects were detained in the operation and that assets worth 1.5 billion lira (TL), believed to be derived from crime, were seized.

Neutral press Dünya's report, however, stated that 191 suspects were taken into custody as part of the investigation.

Istanbul-led operation in 20 provinces targets organized crime: 178 detained

On September 14, an operation led from Istanbul across 20 provinces targeted 12 separate "new generation" organized crime groups, detaining 178 suspects; searches turned up weapons, ammunition and narcotics. Of 42 people detained in a Muğla-based operation, 20 were referred to the courthouse.
