Van

A province in Türkiye's Eastern Anatolia Region

Van is a province located in the Upper Murat-Van section of Türkiye's Eastern Anatolia Region, with the city of Van as its administrative center. According to end-2023 figures, its population is 1,127,612. It borders Ağrı to the north, Bitlis to the west, Siirt to the southwest, Hakkâri and Şırnak to the south, and Iran to the east.

New detentions and DNA testing in Van death investigation

In the investigation led by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a couple who were detained gave statements and had DNA samples taken, and their home was searched; the couple was later released. The family's lawyer said they might request exhumation of the grave if necessary.
