Constitutional council setting Türkiye's state security policy

The National Security Council is a constitutional council in Türkiye that determines the state's national security policy. It operated from 1933-1949 as the General Secretariat of the Supreme Defence Assembly, from 1949-1962 as the Supreme Defence Council and General Secretariat, and took its current name with the 1961 Constitution.

Gürlek: full weapons handover and National Security Council determination required for law to take effect

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, speaking at the MHP Provincial Headquarters in Adana, said that for the regulation passed in the Grand National Assembly (TBMM) with 467 votes in favor to take effect, the organization must be dissolved with all its elements, weapons must be fully handed over, this must be determined and confirmed by the National Security Council (MGK), and the decision must be published in the Official Gazette.
