A district in western Istanbul

Küçükçekmece is a district in western Istanbul, established around the lake of the same name. It was formed in 1987 from settlements separated from Bakırköy district, and reached its current boundaries through district separations in 1992 and 2009. It has a coastline on the Sea of Marmara and Lake Küçükçekmece.

The remaining section of a building under demolition at Şirin Sitesi in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece İnönü neighborhood collapsed around 8:30 p.m. Sources diverge on the number injured: either 2 or 3. It was determined no one was under the rubble and search efforts ended.

Opposition press Evrensel, citing Anadolu Agency, reported that the collapsed section injured 2 passersby, who were taken to hospital after initial treatment.

Neutral press NTV and Mersin Haber reported that 3 passersby were injured after being struck by debris, and that all three received first aid at the scene.

In Küçükçekmece case over death of 16-year-old, three defendants get 24 years each with no reduction

Küçükçekmece 6th High Criminal Court sentenced three defendants under 18 to 24 years in prison each for "jointly and intentionally killing a child" and ruled against any sentence reduction. Prosecutors had sought between 18 and 24 years in prison.
