Büyükçekmece is a district located in the west of Istanbul province. It is surrounded by Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt to the east, Silivri to the west, Çatalca and Arnavutköy districts to the north, and the Sea of Marmara to the south. Its area is 163 km².
