Türkiye ranks 97th among 192 countries in a relocation index

According to Karar, Türkiye ranked 97th with 60.9 points in the 2026 Global Relocation Index by Singapore-based Rumavi Global; Estonia topped the list. The index is calculated across 24 indicators.

BDDK revokes operating license of Iran-based Bank Mellat

Under a decision dated September 18 published in the Official Gazette, the operating license of Bank Mellat's Istanbul Türkiye Central Branch was revoked under Article 71/1-b of the Banking Law; according to DW and Euronews, the justification cited a threat to depositors' rights and the trust and stability of the financial system.

Differing figures on number of arrests in capital markets investigation

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that suspects, including a fund management board chairman and members, were arrested over allegations of manipulative trading, and 51 people were banned from leaving the country; access to 246 social media accounts was blocked.

State media and foreign press TRT Haber and DW Türkçe reported in their headlines that a total of 20 suspects were arrested.

Opposition and independent press Tele2 Haber and Bloomberg HT, citing Gürlek's statement, highlighted that 4 suspects were arrested and 51 people were subjected to a travel ban.
