Erzurum

Erzurum is a province of Türkiye located in the Eastern Anatolia Region, with its administrative center being the city of Erzurum. The province has a population of 736,877, with agriculture and animal husbandry as its main livelihood; in recent years it has also become notable for winter tourism. Weather balloons launched twice daily for forecasts in Erzurum

The 12th Regional Directorate of Meteorology releases balloons daily at 15:00 and 03:00 for Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt, and Ardahan forecasts; ascending to 35-40 kilometers, they gather temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind data. The measurement is conducted at 9 points across Türkiye.
