Serkan Eren, a Turkish aid volunteer living in Germany, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Iran. The decision was learned from Eren's lawyer.
The Iranian court sentenced Eren on the grounds that he 'established contact with a country seen as hostile by Iran'. Eren had been detained last June while entering Iran for humanitarian aid.
