Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced that the first secretary general of the Mecca Defense Alliance, founded by Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, is retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood. The agreement considers an attack on one party as an attack on all parties.
Mahmood will carry out the secretary general duties in Riyadh. The role will rotate among the three countries, with Pakistan taking the first three years. The agreement was signed on August 7 in Mecca by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
