In Fıçıtaşı neighbourhood of Rize's İyidere district, the road split in two and collapsed by roughly 60 centimetres following heavy rainfall. The retaining wall remained intact.

Damage assessment ongoing in İyidere and Pazar following flood in Rize

In the heavy downpour in Rize, 16 workplaces and 3 residences in İyidere, along with 40 businesses, 9 neighborhoods, and 7 villages in Pazar were damaged. Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş announced there were no casualties and about 40 houses were evacuated.

Çamlıhemşin Tunnel opens in Rize, shortening Ayder route by 1.5 kilometres

Opened to traffic with a ceremony by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Çamlıhemşin Tunnel and its connecting bridges constitute the new 2-kilometre stage of the 39.5-kilometre route. Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said the road was shortened by 1.5 kilometres, travel time was reduced by 20 minutes, and an annual saving of 772 million lira (TL) is projected.

Drinking water warning in Rize after heavy rainfall

The Rize Provincial Health Directorate urged residents not to consume water of unknown source and origin, and to boil and cool it before use when necessary. The announcement stated that caution should be exercised for 5-7 days after rainfall ends.
