Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP)

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is a Turkish politician, bureaucrat and economist. He served as chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) from May 2010 to November 2023 and again from 2026. He served in the Grand National Assembly (TBMM) as an MP for Istanbul from 2002-2015 and for İzmir from 2015-2023.

Court lifts injunction, Gürsel Tekin says he continues in his post

The İstanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance lifted the injunctions it had issued on September 2, 2025 in the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress case; the duties of Gürsel Tekin and the interim board came to an end. Tekin said Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had appointed him provincial chairman and stated he continues in his post as an "appointee."

Court lifts injunction on CHP's Istanbul branch, Tekin's temporary duty ends

The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance lifted the interim injunctions dated September 2, 2025, citing "changed circumstances and conditions." Gürsel Tekin said that since Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had appointed him as provincial chairman, his duty continued in an "appointed" capacity.

CHP spokesperson Sarı: No legal obstacle remains before the congress

CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı said the appeal filed with the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay) in the absolute nullity case had been withdrawn, and that other plaintiffs had also dropped their cases, meaning no legal obstacle remained before the congress.
