Following the Council of Higher Education's (YÖK) ban on public servant academics earning income from social media, Prof. Dr. Behçet Yalın Özkara announced he will resign from his university post following a vote by his followers.

Ambulance driver released in Kozinoğlu probe, three suspects at courthouse Monday

Of the four people detained in the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office probe into the 2011 prison death of former intelligence agency MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu, the ambulance driver was released after giving a statement. The prison director and shift supervisor of the period, along with a former journalist, are expected to be referred to the courthouse Monday; house arrest had previously been ordered for Hasan Atilla Uğur.

Detention warrants issued for 29 people, trustees appointed to 23 companies in Kuriş investigation

In an investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into a criminal organization reportedly led by Alihan Kuriş, detention warrants were issued for 29 or 30 people after evidence of off-the-books money transfers was obtained, and trustees were appointed to 23 companies. Previously, 81 people had been arrested in the investigation.

Former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Özfatura in intensive care

Burhan Özfatura, 83, was taken to Dokuz Eylül University Hospital after suffering sudden cardiac arrest at his home in Balçova. Chief Physician Emel Çalıkoğlu reported that he remains in critical condition, while his son Fatih Özfatura stated his heart stopped for approximately 40 minutes and he remains unconscious.
